 About Studio Tiny Horse

Liesbeth de Vries

As long as I can remember, I have been playing with clay. Trying to build something with clay from the garden as a kid, from Play doh to the real stuff. I was very lucky to have parents who encouraged me and my brother to be creative. As long as we cleaned up the mess afterwards.

But it never occurred to me to make clay my job.

Younger me would have loved to do something with horses, but instead I became a teacher. In painting and drawing and printing techniques. After graduation I set up a workshop for kids where they could explore and be creative. At the time this kind of opportunities for kids were rare.

And then we moved "abroad". From the Netherlands to Belgium. It was supposed to be for a year.  So I started a new education, with a former love. I started to study ceramics at the Academy of Anderlecht.

As they say; the rest is history.

We still live in Belgium, and I still play with clay.

I used to draw lots and lots of horses, and my first makers stamp was a tiny horse cut in relief from a little piece of clay. So for me, it was logical to name my studio after my makers mark. Studio Tiny Horse
